Long queues in Republic Poly





Having long queues in food courts in a common problem in Republic Polytechnic. This above photo is taken at the peak hour at 1.30pm at the North Canteen in Republic Polytechnic one of the 3 food courts available to students and staffs in the campus. This could be a problem for students and staff as normally students would have to queue long before eating their food which would waste time for students.

This doesn't just happen in the foodcourt it happens every food court in Republic Poly as well.






It is also crowded everywhere in various canteens around Republic Polytechnic due to the break timings for all classes ending at the same time at 12pm for every class. We hope that we are able to create some awareness to Republic Polytechnic students to be wary of the peak hour timings and off peak hour timings in order to maximize productive learning.

Long queues in canteens posts as a matter that everyone dreads. But why? Long queues obstruct the path when people want to walk. When the queue at food stalls gets too long, other people will have difficulty navigating their way through the crowd. The first group of people that will be affected by the long queues are the food stall vendors. If the queue gets too long, the vendors will feel pressured and this could lead to them being confused between orders. One thing that I observed at the South Canteen Fried Chicken Stall is the long queue and there was once when the aunty gave my friend the wrong order. This is due to the fact that the aunty was stressed because of the long queue and she got mixed up between customers' orders. Another group of people that will be affected are the students. Republic Polytechnic is a place with so many food varieties to choose from. There are many choices that Republic Polytechnic offers. From local delicacies to western choices to sweet course. Sometimes its a headache for RP students and lecturers to choose a food they want to eat. There are many places like North and South Canteen, Lawn Canteen, TRCC Cafe, and even Subway.
